Remember that one shot called
Game Over I posted some time ago? Well it turns out that it was just one small fragment of the whole Game Over book. There's nothing interesting to add I guess. Standard Uziga work, some will love it and some will hate it.
Well this has total "shock value" and AFAIR is one of the most disturbing stuff I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteI have some experience with this stuff but I always get surprises like this.
I think this is much worse than "Modern stories of the bizarre" due to the way of displaying that horrid scenes like the self-healing girl stories: no message, no portrait of nothing (unlike in "Modern stories...") just cheap "enternaintment" with the usual cheap jokes we find in manga (the "I have to eat a lot to recover" scene, etc).
Jun Hayami's work is totally insane, but it's interesting in portraying actual insanities. I think is somewhat realistic and pretty grim.
According to the books, "Game over" is older than "Modern stories...". That's good because at least, there we have some documentary stuff and some memorable moments in anatomy (LOL) like the final scene in the "Living autopsy" story...
But I think "Game over" is 100% gratuitous violence and very deranged teeny fantasies about treating people like human mice[*]: Auschwitz-Birkenau, here we come!
I've just read it once, OK, but this is my little anonymous cheap review :)
Many thanks for enlightening us! (heh heh heh)
[*] Thanks Slayer ^^

ReplyDeleteDunno man, I always thought it was just a photo shoot. Never really investigated any further.
