Darkthrone - Sardonic Wrath

This album brings back memories. It was one of the first albums I bought.

This is also the last album before Darkthrone drastically decided to change their sound. Now this new sound caused a lot of butthurt for the black metal fans because one of the most well known black metal bands decided to sell out. Now, let us drift further in this subject because Darkthrone is still is one of my favorite bands and I'll use this chance to discuss about them a little. Selling out apparently means drastically switching from one sound to another to gain a wider audience and cause more profit. Darkthrone did this. But they did that when they released A Blaze In The Northern Sky and switching from DEATH METAL to then new Black metal genre that was starting to get a lot of attention and popularity. I don't really see why people have so much against when a band changes their sound. Bands evolve, get over it.

Oh well. Rants aside Sardonic Wraith is all in all a great album. Not raw like their albums from the 90s but it still carries that feeling ov darkness from the 90s. With a bad attitude and grumpy vocals the album rips apart everything and it shows who's still the boss. :P
